Heya, everyone! Today marks the end of June and I feel like writing a post, hehe. In this post, I'll be talking about a Roblox game that I'm pretty sure everyone has heard about which is "Natural Disaster Survival". In this game, you have to try to survive a random disaster a round gives you. Each round you'll be spawned in different maps, so you have to figure out ways to survive based on the map you're in, which can sometimes be a huge advantage or, perhaps, the complete opposite.
Another thing that stands out in this game is that it still has the old Roblox physics, meaning that you can literally get sent to the stratosphere or be catapulted off the map by just touching objects or bumping into other players. This game has its own lobby where you'll teleport to after a round ends and yes, you can accidentally cause your avatar to explode by hitting the lobby's ceiling in high velocity. All of the above can also happen, so apparently not only the disasters can harm you. Now, let's talk about the disasters in this game.
Earthquake
The earthquake is the disaster where the ground starts to violently shake, collapsing nearby infrastructures and also causing them to fall off the map, depending on the "direction" of the earthquake. There's a chance that this might be the disaster you get if there are no clouds in the sky. The real danger of this disaster is the debris of collapsed infrastructures, which can either damage you when touched or fling you off the map (I've been flung off multiple times either because of the debris or accidentally running into other players while trying to avoid the said debris). To survive, all you need to do is stand on the green ground tile and try avoiding the debris as best as possible.
Maps like Surf Central has another ground tile which is sand, but that's actually not a "proper" ground tile and will start coming off as soon as the ground starts shaking. Because of that, it's best to go to the "upper floor" of the map which has the surfboard shop and the green ground tile.
Meteor Shower
This is the disaster where meteors fall from the sky and can snipe you in one hit. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when there are no clouds in the sky. From what I tried so far, there are 2 things you can do to survive:
- Find shelter and hide underneath it. There's a chance that the meteor might snipe you by phasing through the roof or ceiling, so I suggest to move once in a while to reduce the risk of that happening.
- Go outside, look up, and dodge the meteors. I tried doing this in a now-deleted video of me playing this game and almost survived only to be sniped by a meteor when I got too concerned on how close I was from falling off the edge of the map. Not looking up at all and just run around avoiding debris also worked the last time I was playing.
Volcanic Eruption
In this disaster, a volcano will spawn on the side of the map and erupt giant molten materials onto the map. This is the disaster you get when there are no clouds in the sky and the volcano is spawned a few seconds after being teleported to the map. There are 2 ways to survive this disaster:
- Hide behind the structure that's located the furthest from the volcano. The structure (and other structures nearby) serves as a "shield" for you from the molten materials. You might still want to be careful because the materials can push off debris. If the map you get is like Arch Park which barely has structures, you can stand the furthest from the volcano and avoid the molten materials as much as possible.
- Climb onto the volcano. This is often used when there are multiple disasters ongoing because some of them are out of range of the volcano, and it's much easier to do this if you have the Green Balloon because of the increased jump height and distance. However, you'll still need to be careful of the molten materials because at certain occasions, they can come out from the middle part of the volcano instead of the top and the materials that do come out from the top can slide down on the volcano, hitting players on its path. Trying to jump onto the volcano can also risk of you falling off the map if you didn't land on the proper tile.
Acid Rain
In acid rain, acidic liquid will start pouring from the sky, corroding everything it hits. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy and you hear the wind sound effect playing in the background. Not only the rain, debris that has been corroded (which has this green tint on them) can also deal damage to you when touched. To survive, hide inside or underneath a structure, preferably the ones that have multiple layers of roofs or ceilings. The acid rain will gradually destroy all the roof or ceiling, so it's best to move to another spot that still has the roof intact or at least a tile that can prevent you from coming into contact with the rain.
In maps like Arch Park, I managed to survive this disaster by hiding underneath the trees because it takes time for the acid rain to destroy the tree's leaves due to the multiple layers it has. Once the tree has lost all of its leaves, I move to another one. It's much easier to survive this disaster if you have the Red Apple to regenerate your health once in a while after coming in contact with the rain.
Sandstorm
In this disaster, a strong sandstorm blows from a certain direction and wipes structures off the map. This is the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy, there's the wind sound effect, and the screen turns slightly dark yellow. In my opinion, this is by far the easiest disaster to survive because all you need to do is just find the direction of the wind, go to a spot where there are no structures in front of you to prevent the wind from hitting you with the debris, and just wait until the round ends.
Thunderstorm
The thunderstorm is the disaster where several lightnings strike the map and can snipe you if you're out in the open or standing on high structures. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy and you hear the wind sound effect playing in the background. Similar to acid rain, you can survive this disaster by hiding in the lowest part of a structure, such as the basement floor of the Modest Headquarters, in which the multiple layers of the roof or ceiling will shield you. If you're in Arch Park, "hiding under the tree" method also works for me as long as you try to hug the tree as much as possible to prevent yourself from being "out in the open".
Tornado
In this disaster, a tornado spawns on the map, pulling and destroying everything it crosses. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy and you hear the wind sound effect in the background. The main hazards of this disaster are the debris being brought by the tornado and you suffering from fall damage if you end up getting pulled by the tornado. Because of that, to survive this, you can stand at the edge of the map or just run away from the tornado when it looks like it's heading to your direction.
Blizzard
The blizzard is where heavy snow spawns on the map accompanied with strong wind, causing structures to be covered in snow and get blown away. You also take damage over time if you're out in the open for too long. This is the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy, you hear the wind sound effect in the background, and your screen has this white thick fog surrounding it, changing to snow falling from the sky when the disaster starts.
Surviving this disaster is kind of similar to the acid rain, except snow-covered tiles won't deal you damage when touched. All you need to do is just hide inside or underneath a structure and try to hide under fallen tiles when the structure you're hiding in starts to collapse. You can tell if you're in open area and prone to taking damage when the snow falling effect covers your entire screen.
Deadly Virus
In deadly virus, a random player will be infected with a highly contagious disease and, depending on the player, will most likely try to infect the others by chasing them around the map. Infected players will gradually lose their health overtime. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get where there are no clouds in the sky. Surviving this disaster is pretty simple depending on who gets infected first. All you have to do is just stay away from infected players as far as possible and make sure not to touch the purple bubbles emitted from infected players. If you happen to get infected, you can use the Red Apple to slow down your health from depleting, hopefully giving you enough time to survive the round.
Avalanche
In this disaster, a giant mountainous slope spawns on the side of the map, spawning an avalanche several seconds afterwards that can wipe off certain structures in its path. This is the disaster you get when there are no clouds in the sky and, unlike the volcano that spawns seconds after you get teleported to the map, the mountain is immediately spawned on the side of the map. The way to survive this disaster is similar to the volcanic eruption, in which you find a structure that's the furthest from the mountain and hide in or behind it to shield yourself from the incoming snow. Climbing to the top of the mountain also worked for me, but I suggest to stand slightly at the back of the mountain because some of the snow blocks can stack and end up at the top of the mountain.
Fire
The fire is a disaster where a specific item in a map (such as the lantern inside the barn in Sunny Ranch) catches on fire, burning nearby objects into a crisp. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when there are no clouds in the sky. This is also another easy disaster because you can just stand still on a green ground tile and avoid structures. Sand tiles and other "not proper" ground tiles can also catch on fire, so it's best to stay away from them.
Tsunami
The tsunami is where a giant wave is summoned and wipes off everything in the map. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when there are no clouds in the sky. In this disaster, you don't need to go up to the very top of the highest structure in the map because the wave isn't that high. Another reason is that the wave wipes off the bottom part of structures, meaning that you'll most likely get taken out by fall damage when the structure collapses.
For example, the map you get is Arch Park, one of the trickiest maps to survive this disaster. Instead of going all the way to the top of the arch, you can stand on the middle highest section of the arch while predicting the height of the wave. Once the wave hits and has passed by for a few seconds, immediately jump off the arch. If you take too long to jump off, the arch will most likely collapse. This is much easier to do if you have the Green Balloon.
Flash Flood
The flash flood is the disaster where water rapidly starts rising from the ground. There's a chance this might be the disaster you get when the sky is cloudy and the wind sound effect plays in the background. So far, in my opinion, this disaster is the trickiest to survive because the water just eats everything it touches, causing tall structures to topple over and either taking everyone out because of the fall damage or from drowning. Unlike the tsunami, the flash flood can reach great heights and you're prone to drowning if the tallest structure on the map you're on is destroyed or if the map barely has any tall structures.
From what I know, the best way to survive this is to find a stable tall structure and, once the water has engulfed most of the structure causing you to be submerged in water, just try to survive as long as possible by continuously jumping. Your chances of survival is greater if you have both the Green Balloon and Red Apple; the Green Balloon can help you jump out of the water better and the Red Apple can periodically regenerate your health, giving you more time to survive the round. Launch Land is also a golden ticket to survive this disaster if the rocket is properly launched upwards.
I think that's pretty much everything for this post. I'm impressed this game is still being played by thousands of players daily to this day and, honestly, the game is pretty fun. If you have any wacky stories to share related to this game, feel free to share them in the comments below, I'd love to read them all. Thank you for tuning in, I hope you have an amazing day!
